Hi, I'm Miguel
Project manager. A parent. An expat living in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn't in the master plan. Like plenty of expatriate relocations, it started as a job chance and soon grew into something far larger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, new routines, higher expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more tangled than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning were part of it. Gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Humble Urban Broad
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or superficial tourism content. What was lacking was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap—with practical advice grounded in real life in Portugal.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on insights from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Refreshed when something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a paid review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Portugal continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we uncover.
